Hi there and welcome to The Distant Desk! I'm Lindsey! I am so excited to start on this adventure! My hope is that you get to know me a bit better by reading this post. So...let's jump right in!
10 Things You Didn’t Know About Me
- I admire Joanna Gaines. If you don't know who Joanna Gaines is, she is part of the hit show "Fixer Upper" on HGTV. The other part is her hilarious husband Chip Gaines. Together they have created a hit show, successfully launched a brick-and-mortar/online home store called Magnolia Market, and a paint line to name a few. I love the values Joanna stands for and her positive outlook on life. She is a source of inspiration to me.
I love the cello. I fell in love with the cello in high school band. A college student came and played for us, and I was immediately taken by its warm and robust sound. Last year, for my 35th birthday, my husband purchased one for me. Time has kept me from taking lessons, BUT it's there, waiting for me.
I was in the high school band. My instrument of choice was the French horn; can't say I was good at it either. My dad used to tell me it sounded like dying coyotes when I practiced at home. At least he was honest.
I want to visit each of the 50 states. This is on my bucket list.
Hawaii has been my favorite state thus far. Of the 12 or so states I have been to, this one has been my favorite. First of all, is it beautiful and the Hawaiians' have a laid back attitude like no other in my opinion. Plus, this is where my husband proposed to me....on my birthday! So, you can't top that I'm afraid.
I like burnt food. Yes, you read that right. It's sort of weird, I know.
My first car was a 1986 Nissan 200sx. In 1996, I got my first car. My dad bought in from my uncle, who had rebuilt it. I loved it until I realized it smoked so bad, I would have to turn it off any time I was sitting in a restaurant drive-through. Needless to say, this car got me through high school.
I'm currently reading You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero. I love to read. This particular one is a "self-help" book. Self-help books get a bad rap. Personally, I love them because they give you a different perspective and a different way to think about things.
I love green tea. It is my favorite drink hands down. This helped me kick the sugar habit, too.
Public speaking scares me. A lot of times in school and college, you are given an assignment where you have to get in front of the class and give a speech of some sort. I always turn a bright red and tend to stammer. Hence, this will probably always terrify me.
